Steps to maintain youthful skin

Your skin is the first thing people notice about you. While facial skin might be considered the most prominent, other parts may be quite noticeable. To maintain youthful skin and prevent unnecessary and early aging of the skin, it is important to take a few important steps.

The first step is to START EARLY. If you want youthful skin that goes beyond just being acne free, then you do not have to wait until you are in your late 40s to start paying attention to skin. When we are young, it is very easy to neglect the skin. There are few reasons for this neglect. You might have the ‘if it isn’t broke don’t fix it mentality’. Most people have beautiful and fresh looking skin when they are young. Aside from possible acne, young people usually have youthful skin in general so it is easy to ignore important skin care practices like; moisturizing and applying sun screen. This leads to premature aging of the skin. I recommend you start implementing healthy skin care practices early if you want to maintain youthful skin. Studies of older individuals with youthful skin have shown that they started healthy skin care practices at an early age.

The second step is to AVOID USING SEVERAL PRODUCTS. Exposing the skin to several skin care products over a long period of time, affects the skin’s integrity and internal balance. This is because most skin care products out there (Except for pure and natural products) are laden with several chemicals that wear the skin out over time, resulting in premature aging and other possible health problems. For this same reason, daily use of heavy make up without properly cleansing and exfoliating the skin often, also contributes to premature aging. In addition, the use of low quality cosmetic products is a huge contributing factor. The impact of poor or excessive make up first shows up around the eyes so it is important to ensure that you remove eye make up completely before bed.

The third step is to actually IMPLEMENT HEALTHY SKIN CARE PRACTICES. It is quite easy to memorize all the healthy skin care practices out there but the main question is: Are you implementing them in your daily life? Although it is preferable to start early, it is never too late to start turning back the hands of time when it comes to your skin. There are several skin care practices out there including: cleansing, exfoliating, moisturizing, steaming, oil pulling, applying face masks and many more. However, in my personal opinion the most important and relevant skin care practices are cleansing, exfoliating and moisturizing. These practices keep the skin youthful and free of blemishes.
